Description
The 100% abalone spoon kit is composed of 3 models of spoons and is delivered in a very stylish mat black metallic box carrying the blue Morpho butterfly.
Zebra (75 mm long, around 5.5g)
The elongated profile and fairly strong curvature allow for a strong off-axis swim during linear retrieves.
Thanks to its weight and its careful design, the fluttering effect of the Zebra on the pause is unmatchable for any spoon of this size made out of metal.
Our abalone spoons line is very specific and excels when trout are taking slowly sinking prays. However, this model can be twitched via some quick rod tip action, mimicking the escape swim of a good size minnow, proven to be irresistible for larger specimens.
Little tip: While designed to target trout, these spoons can be deadly when fished on top of weed beds or targeting suspended EPs, bass and large red fins perch.
Blanka (60 mm long, around 4g)
This model is characterized by its white tone and indescribable iridescent shine. No need to tell how much a white lure is a must have in any lure box.
It is designed with a more traditional curvature, has a strong off-axis swim and emits strong vibrations in a more compact profile than the Zebra.
It can be used in multiple ways. On a straight retrieve, it will show a wide action and strong vibration. In river pools and in lakes, an up and down retrieve with a long and controlled sinking phase has shown its effectiveness. You will be amazed by its shimmy while it sinks at slow speed. Finally, it can be let flown downstream on shallow flats on a semi slack line, one of our favourite way to use it.
Onix (57 mm long, around 3.5g)
Let’s face it, the ONIX is not our easiest model to use and it takes a bit of practice to get the most out of it. Its slender and triangular shape provide it with a strong tendency to roll if a straight retrieve is too quick. It is moving a lot of water and can easily loose track when fished in strong currents.
BUT, it is design to target quibbling trout in the clearest water and/or in bright days. Its shape allows for strong vibrations during the retrieve phase AND a subtle shimmy during the sinking phase that is very tempting for very educated fishes.
In rivers, we would advise to use it on well defined spots, like a pool with a lower flow. Cast it 3/4 upstream and let it flow downstream on a semi-slack line, so it is free to do its thing. But watch you line, as you will be surprised!
In lakes, we’ve had very good results fishing alongside rocky banks in the middle of summer, when it is proven difficult to get bit and when fishes are taking on slowly sinking prays.
